Projects
The PSETA has engaged employers and training providers including institutions of higher learning on matters related to skills development. The PSETA has reviewed its resources, systems and processes in an attempt to accelerate and enhance the quality of service delivery as a measure to meet and even exceed the National Skills Development (NSDS 111) targets by March 2012.
This is aimed at building capacity of public providers/institutions especially Further Education and Training (FET) colleges so that they can be able to exponentially increase the intake of learners especially learners from poor homes who are unable to pay market set course fee. This joint program presents an ideal opportunity for this entity to take advantage of in order to make a meaningful contribution as a skills development authority whilst at the same time meeting its NSDS III targets and enhancing the relevance and efficacy of its skills development interventions.
The he aim of these projects isto administer skills development in the broader national economic priorities targeting unemployed and marginalized youth, disabled youth and undergraduate learners in the rural and urban communities. The rationale behind this initiative is to respond to the existing scarce and critical skills needs of the labour market social equity. The NSF has approved funding for PSETA to implement the following projects:
- RURAL YOUTH SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (enable youth to enter formal workplace and create a livelihood for themselves)
- NORTH WEST YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
This project will empower economically marginalized groups: youth, women, the disabled in rural and peri-urban communities – against the 7 key development and transformational imperatives in NSDS III. PSETA has included this project in its strategic plan as the programme that will be implemented for youth in government learnership project
TRAINING CO-OPERATIVES PROJECT (Indicator 4.6.2) Sector projects established and supported by NSF
The purpose of this project is to increase the capacity of the PSETA to partner with the public service sector in its drive to create a skills base essential for improved service delivery.
The PSETA Strategic Objective and Programme see this project as encouraging and supporting cooperatives, small enterprises, worker-initiated, NGO and community training initiatives.
